New Air Quality Rules, New Technology and An Era is Over.

I first met Jay Leno when his General Manager, Bernard called in for propane for Jay’s 1906 Steam Engine in 2011.  Jay had been driving it on the street when he ran out of propane.  You see, the steam tractor is powered by propane which replaces the coal/wood to make the steam. We installed a storage tank on his property so that he can fill his tractor whenever needed. Additionally, they can refill their forklift and BBQ tanks from the dispenser.

If you want to watch the video on it, click HERE.

In Jay’s collection, he has vehicles that people have given him such as this propane grill on wheels.  Wouldn’t you like to tailgate with this?

Saying good-bye to our Sun Performance Gas Analyzer is a sad reminder that some things can't stay the same. Because of Jay's extensive collection of cars and motorcycles, it only made sense to add our Gas Analyzer to it. The Analyzer has found a new home at Jay Leno’s Garage where it will be useful for his collection of restored cars.

What is the Future for Propane?

In the medium duty class Freightliner and Ford/Roush have CARB certified configurations for any business.  Cummins has developed a propane engine that is beating their tried and true with all the normal performance markers and near zero emissions.

Renewable propane is currently being manufactured in small quantities as a by-product of renewable diesel.  Renewable propane provides a clean strategy for California to achieve lower GHG emission targets.  It is also a fuel that can meet consumers price sensitivity and performance needs across markets with a relatively low investment compared to other ultra-low carbon fuels.  Renewable propane is a key fuel for zero net energy buildings and near zero emission vehicles.

How cool is that!
