California businesses can move forward with confidence knowing that propane forklifts remain a reliable option. A recent settlement between the Western Propane Gas Association (WPGA) and the California Air Resources Board (CARB) confirms that the Zero Emission Forklift regulation and related reporting requirements are currently unenforceable.
This means propane forklift sales, rentals, and operations are allowed, and privately owned fleets are exempt from restrictions through at least 2029. Companies should, however, plan ahead and consider upgrading fleets before 2030 to stay aligned with possible future regulations.
